Opening Reception: May 9, 7-9 p.m.

Play invites artists and viewers alike to rediscover the joy of making. This juried exhibition by the Visual Art League of Lewisville celebrates creative freedom—where experimentation is encouraged, rules are set aside, and the process is just as important as the final work.

Featuring a wide range of media and styles, the exhibition highlights artwork that embraces curiosity, spontaneity, and delight. From bold uses of color to unexpected forms and ideas, each piece reflects the energy and inspiration that come from creating with both intention and imagination.

Curated by Daniele Jones and juried by Ken Womack, Play showcases the diverse talents of VAL members and the many ways artists connect with their craft.

Celebrating their 30th Anniversary as an arts organization, Quilting Sisters of Color (QSOC) is a group of artists based in the DFW Metroplex who share a passion for the art of quilting and textiles. Founded in 1996, their works have been featured at the American Airlines DFW Terminal, the TAAC – TRAHC African American Committee Museum, Texarkana, Texas, Dallas Museum of Art, Community Centers and Churches throughout the DFW Metroplex. QSOC’s strong community outreach program has donated quilts to the Quilts of Valor Foundation and offered classes and presentations to bring awareness to the history and use of textiles.

In 2025, over 800 individual items (including 303 Christmas Stockings) were provided to 6 organizations. These prize-winning artists have been featured both in national and international exhibits. Books, magazines and social media platforms have shown many of their works. State Fair of Texas Ribbons grace the homes of many members, including two Best of Show Blue Ribbons (2021 & 2024). The Quilting Sisters of Color’s dazzling works are anchored by their four pillars of commitment - Creativity, Love, Inspiration and Community. “She saw a need!” Come be a part of what 30 years have produced.
