Join the Visual Art League of Lewisville for its monthly general meeting at Lewisville Grand Theater. Each month in conjunction with the general meeting, VAL produces an “Art Talk” series of known speakers and art demonstrations that are free and open to the public.
This month, join us for an engaging evening with Christine K. Miller, a fiber artist, teacher, and author, for a presentation called “Powered Up Practice.”
The visual arts are a dynamic, exciting place for individual expression and the communication of important ideas to viewers of art. Christine will introduce you to Studio Thinking, a set of 8 Studio Habits of Mind that will strengthen your own art making and take you deeper into your creative process. There is a free download of this resource on Christine’s website.
Attendees will learn:
- The habits of artists
- How artists make decisions when there is no right or wrong.
- Which Studio Habits do artists already use consciously, and which habits can be strengthened.
- Working with the Studio Habits is a deliberate way individuals can power up their artistic practice!

It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.
To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left.
