Get ready for a night of big laughs at Lewisville Grand Theater on June 20. Headliner C.J. Starr and friends take the Black Box Theater stage for an evening of stand-up comedy featuring some of DFW’s most entertaining performers, presented as part of the City of Lewisville’s Juneteenth celebration.

CJ Starr
CJ Starr was raised all over the Midwest, but his comedy was born in Texas. CJ’s comedy continues to take America by storm, making crowds laugh about anything that can happen to a seasoned man trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. CJ Starr’s comedy relates to any audience, as he makes fun of his upbringing, his bi-racial family, kids, grandkids, his tenure at community college, jail time, and bad career choices. CJ Starr’s comedy is very versatile, as are the fans he has acquired over the years, with a fan base that includes every walk of life.

In the past, CJ Starr has performed at the Oddball Comedy Festival and Gilda’s LaughFest three years in a row. He has continued to expand his comedic talent as a writer for Apple TV and YouTube web series. CJ Starr has appeared on the TV shows LMAO on Jewish Life TV and Laughs on FOX four times, with episodes also available on Hulu. He was a finalist in Kenan Thompson’s Ultimate Comedy Experience and was voted the funniest comic in Texas. He currently teaches intro to comedy classes and has a podcast called Hidden Humor, where he interviews people with great stories and diverse backgrounds.

This past year, he worked over 300 shows and had his own tour, Sorry 4Da Weight. He also worked exclusively with actor Jeremy Piven on his nationwide theater comedy tour, which included filming his comedy special.

Fonzo Crow
This Dallas native, Fonzo Crow, is a star on the rise. When he is not performing his high-energy, quick-witted comedy, Fonzo brings his unique perspective to the stage. His comedy will leave you in stitches with stories about fraternity life, married and divorced life, and the challenges of being a father raising stepkids. Fonzo credits his comedic ability to his upbringing in Dallas. A favorite among his comedic colleagues, Fonzo has performed at legendary venues including Jay Anthony Brown’s “J Spot,” The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, Improv Comedy Clubs, and The Comedy Union. He was a semifinalist for Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Jam Tour, winner of Cedric the Entertainer’s Comedy Pays, and has appeared on CW33. He is currently touring clubs across America and continues to grow his audience.

Rogelio Mendoza
Welcome up-and-coming comic Rogelio Mendoza. Born and raised in the heart of Dallas, Rogelio grew up in Oak Cliff and is no stranger to a fast-paced lifestyle. Raised by his grandparents, with parents who kept life “interesting,” Rogelio brings stories about growing up in the hood, bouncing around neighborhoods, family chaos, marriage, and raising kids. With his calm demeanor and unique outlook, Rogelio brings enjoyable comedy to any stage he performs on. He has performed at clubs including Improv Comedy Club, Dallas Comedy Club, Hyena’s Comedy Club, and Laugh Out Loud San Antonio. Come out and enjoy the ride as you laugh away your problems.

This event is part of the City of Lewisville’s Juneteenth: The Cookout that celebrates the heart of community. Inspired by the tradition of gathering to share stories, music, laughter, and joy, this multiday event captures that spirit — no grill required. Experience live music, comedy, poetry, visual arts, and more in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.
