VAL Art Talk

  • Date: March 10, 2026 7:00 p.m.
  • Location: Lewisville Grand Theater
    100 N. Charles
    Lewisville, Texas 75057
  • Introduction: Kimberlea Bass, “Generation Gap”

Join the Visual Art League of Lewisville for its monthly general meeting at Lewisville Grand Theater. Each month in conjunction with the general meeting, VAL produces an “Art Talk” series of known speakers and art demonstrations that are free and open to the public. This month, join us for an engaging evening with Kimberlea Bass, a multidisciplinary artist, educator, photographer and world traveler.

Bass will be speaking about her journey as an artist and navigating how to use art as a way of healing and expressing big emotions in a healthy way. She challenges the boundaries of photography as a concept rather than a tool. As a group we will all use our hands and test out some Bass techniques with materials that will be provided. We will be exploring how photography and photographic materials can help guide this practice.

Bass is a Texas-based multidisciplinary artist exploring time, memory, home, and family history through 2D and 3D mixed media. She earned her MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2022 and her BFA from Southern Methodist University in 1995.

Her work has appeared in juried exhibitions nationwide, including Fotofoto Gallery (NY), Cedar House Gallery (GA), Fort Works Arts (TX), Kinhouse Gallery (IN) and Laguna Art Gallery (CA). It is held in public and private collections, including Drake Field Airport in Arkansas, and has been recognized multiple times by LensCulture as an Editor’s Pick.

Bass has attended residencies at Studio Faire and Château Orquevaux in France and Photo Trouvée. In 2024, she presented her portfolio at The Photographer’s Gallery in London and joined the Flusser Club’s summer session in Rubion, France. Through research and material experimentation, she continues to explore personal and collective histories.

VAL Art Talks take place the second Tuesday of each month at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles St, in Old Town Lewisville.
