The Metropolitan Winds present their annual film score spectacular on Saturday, March 8, 3 p.m. at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.
For this program, Music Director Frank Felice has chosen the theme of Taking Flight. Film scores involving flight range from one flying man (Flying Sequence from John Williams’ Superman and one fraudulent airline pilot, with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Frank Abegnale in Williams’ Catch Me If You Can) to multiple fleets of flying spaceships (once again John Williams’ Star Wars). In between the one and the many, a plethora of other entities also take flight in this program: One Woman (in Rupert Gregson Williams’ Wonder Woman); a peleton of ET powered bicycles (John Williams Adventures on Earth from ET); to a balloon-powered flying house (Michael Giacchino’s UP, in a unique percussion ensemble arrangement). In addition to this great diversity of flying things, the program leans heavily on the music of film score master John Williams, arranged to perfection by the founding Musical Director of the Metropolitan Winds, Randol Alan Bass. Once again, the Winds provide the strongest evidence that “…It’s just not the same movie without the music!”

The Lewisville Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.
To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
